What is your “typical” cycle life for your garage torsion springs?
That is a great question. Springs cycles are based on a given wire size, ID, and length of spring in correlation to the number of turns. A .250 x 2 x 30 can get 10,000 cycles or 50,000 cycles. It all depends on the number of turns you put on it. The more turns, the less cycles a spring will get. Most garage doors have 10,000 to 15,000 cycle springs on them; this is determined by the manufacturer, not us. So, when you measure a broken spring, and you reorder the exact spring dimensions, 95% of the time it will be designed for 10,000 to 15,000 cycles. If you want higher cycle springs let us know and we can calculate it for you. If you are looking for higher cycle springs for doors that you are installing, call us with the door weight, drums, door width and height, and we can calculate springs to achieve your required cycle life.
