IDA iPod Winners Announced!

We are pleased to announce the winners of our iPod Nano promotion from the 2008 IDA Show in Las Vegas!

The intent of our drawing was to bring additional awareness to our “Quick Ship Program." This program offers our door customers several options for torsion and extension spring lead times based on order size. Our customers have been extremely pleased with our ability to expedite spring orders of all sizes. Our focus remains steadfast as we continue to provide our customers with a quality product, when they need it, at a competitive price.

We have drawn 3 lucky individuals from our 2008 IDA Show promotion. Our first winner is Sam Lurvey from CH Industries. The second winner is Jim Thompson from Thompsons Garage Door. Our final winner is Judee Lane from Capital Door Systems.

Please join me in congratulating these individuals on their “winnings” from Vegas.

Sincerely,

A Letter to You from Iowa Spring President Tim Bianco

To Our Valued Customers:

The word “unprecedented” is being used to describe current conditions in the North American steel industry. The pricing and availability issues our business faced in 2004 are now becoming minor compared to today’s inflationary events.

Consumers of spring wire (processors like our company) have had at most, a 1 month window as to our material costs. Spring wire manufacturers are only willing to hold pricing for 30 days. A recent trend has become “2 week pricing.” Allocation and spot outages in the rod market are taking place.

Until recently, we believed that we would experience some sort of stability in raw material pricing towards the end of the 2nd quarter. This is no longer the case. Wire mills have now announced 2 separate increases for the month of May.

These unique and unparalleled inflationary occurrences within the steel industry have caused all of us to reevaluate the relationships we have with both suppliers and customers. We recognize the responsibility of our customers to pursue the best overall value when choosing suppliers – we do, when we are choosing ours. We understand and believe that we must be price competitive within our industry; at the same time, we believe that selling price alone is not the sole factor when choosing any vendor.

Our reputation and history with your company has proven that Iowa Spring will deliver on our word – “A quality product, when you need it, at a competitive price.”

Sincerely,

Tim Bianco

Iowa Spring Celebrates 30th Anniversary: 1977–2007

Iowa Spring Manufacturing is proud to be celebrating our 30th year of business. It’s hard to believe that it was 30 years ago that my father, Jim Bianco, first set out to offer customers a quality product, when they needed it, at a competitive price. It’s these principles that continue to guide us today. We’re always seeking ways to better serve you, such as opening our new site, Southern Atlantic Spring. We also wanted to take a moment and say thank you to all of our customers for supporting us through the years.

Here’s to the next 30,

"Offspring" Ad Wins DASMA Ad-of-the-Year Award

ADEL, Iowa, April 13, 2007 — Iowa Spring Manufacturing, Inc., a major producer of precision springs for industries worldwide, is pleased to announce their achievement of the seventh annual Door & Access Systems (DASMA) Advertisement of the Year award. Rick Sedivy, DASMA president, presented the trophy to Tim Bianco and Brian Setchell of Iowa Spring at the organization's annual meeting in January. This marks the first time that a DASMA Associate Member has won the top prize in the competition.

Iowa Spring's "Meet Our Offspring" ad appeared in the winter 2006 issue of Door & Access Systems to announce the opening of Southern Atlantic Spring, the manufacturer's new garage door spring division located in Granite Quarry, North Carolina. The ad, selected from more than 100 entries, earned the highest scores in three of the five judging categories including creativity, attractive design, helpful copy, integrity/professionalism, and overall effectiveness.

"The judges felt that the ad took a creative approach to announcing a new manufacturing plant, with a distinctive appeal not commonly seen in a magazine for our industry," says Tom Wadsworth, editor of Door and Access Systems. The judging panel was composed of 11 independent judges including nine design experts and two industry observers. Most of the judges have more than 20 years of experience in marketing and advertising.

"It is an honor to receive this award from DASMA and to be the first Associate Member singled out at this level," said Tim Bianco, President of Iowa Spring Manufacturing, Inc. "It's always been our goal to communicate with customers through unique and effective messaging like our Offspring ad."

Westergaard Advertising is the agency responsible for producing the ad on behalf of Iowa Spring and Southern Atlantic Spring. "We have enjoyed working with Iowa Spring over the years," states Dean Westergaard, agency president. "They have consistently allowed us to create strong work that communicates their exceptional services."

The winning ad was one piece of an overall "Offspring" launch campaign for the new site that included a print ad series, direct mail component, promotional giveaways, and a trade show booth. For additional information, please contact Iowa Spring at 800-622-2203 or go to www.iowaspring.com.
